In front of a sold-out crowd at Shoreline Derby Center, Jet City Rollergirls kicked off its 2015 season with a repeat of last June’s championship double header. The outcomes this time, though, were slightly different.

The Hula Honeys, led by hard-hitting MVP Fraid Knot, came out on top of CarnEvil by a score of 216-191, despite great performances by MVP blocker Haddie Nuf? and others. The Hulas looked to pull away at the beginning of the second half, but CarnEvil never gave up and narrowed the gap in the last few jams of the game.
Last year’s champions, Camaro Harem, then proceeded to claim a confident win 222-162 over a small-but-mighty Pink Pistols team, fielding only nine skaters. Newcomer Una BOMBHer took home her first MVP title for the Pistols, while crowd favorite Terror FaceOff made her mark as the Harem’s MVP in her return to the track after an absence last season.
The two winning teams face each other in a tough love Valentine’s Day matchup, Feb. 14 — each on the hunt for a bid in the 2015 championship bout June 6. Tickets are available online through Brown Paper Tickets. Don’t wait to buy them at the doors or you could miss out!
